Hey, I’m Tushar Sahdev
... and I’m a design student, residing in Long Island, New York. I was born in India and immigrated to the United States of America in 2015. I like reading and highlighting books, which makes me keep coming back to that book to look for what I think is important. I like playing story games, some of my favorites are the Uncharted Collection, The Last of Us Part 1 & 2, God of War, and Detroit Become Human, as these games intrigue me to think outside the box while playing a linear storyline and try to solve the problems I face while experiencing immersive graphics and animations. My all-time favorite movies are Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara, Barfi, Inside Out, and The Pursuit of Happyness.
My Professional Goals
I love building functional websites, purposeful branding, and capturing striking photographs, which makes me proud no matter when I look back at it. Of course, creative people tend to get bored of their work on the second day, but when I feel I’m nailing the elements and principles of design of a particular design piece, that’s what keeps me going. It’s the moment of pride and realizing how far I’ve come by treating myself right and working on what makes me unique.
Approach to my Design Work
I start by understanding the design project and the perimeters I’ve to work with. Of course, that does not limit my creative drive, but it makes it clearer for me to make future decisions. I heavily rely on mood boards and inspiration from design history and other creative thinkers, because it shows me what’s been done before as well as what’s happening around me and what can be done. I emphasize details and last-minute touches because that’s what defines the projects and makes a last longing impact on the audience. Throughout my college career, I’ve been designing by myself, taking all the creative decisions, and adding my taste to the design, but lately, I’ve been in some collaborative projects and have experienced the power of team building and distributing different tasks. It was something that I whole-heartedly loved and am excited to do in my near future because I’ve realized that design is way more fun when done together.
Personal Attitude and Perspective
In every group, there’s always one person who takes the most amount of time to complete a task, even though the result comes out way more polished and complete. He is very considerate in making decisions and points out something unique to the group that they didn’t think of. He doesn’t talk much, because he listens to what other people have to say first, and then offers his viewpoint. That’s me. I radiate these qualities to an extent that has defined my life choices till now and will keep me guided with more to learn. I have a habit of examining both sides of the story before coming to a result. I can’t imagine having to conclude my opinion after listening to a one-sided story when there are other visible versions of the same story. I think collaboration can not only help with completing design projects but understand human nature, get to know people with whom you are working, and have new experiences along the way. But on top of this, clarity plays a major role in making collaboration successful.
My Unique Qualities
The fact that I’ve lived my foundational 15 years in India and have had several core models that still stand strong in my comprehending and decision-making skills. My religion and cultural ideals taught me to do things that will make not only me but also my parents proud. The teachings that will steer me to the road of success, full of failures and shortcomings, and not stopping no matter what happens. In down times, reminding myself that everything happens for a reason and it will teach me a lesson that will be near and dear to my heart. Life lessons that no matter what I’ll do in my present and future life, it’s better to be a morally mature person and don’t have cutting-edge skills rather than be a skilled egotistical mean person. My strong will and confidence to act in a way that will give me a restful night of sleep rather than restless.
